More than a thousand University of Miami students spent their night sleeping outside, waiting in line to get tickets to see President Obama.

The university announced to students that tickets would be available starting at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Some began lining up as early as 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

"It's a once in a lifetime opportunity," said Shelby Sedberry, a Political Science major. "Being here in an election year is really exciting and I can't wait to see what else is in store."

Officials from UM estimate 750 tickets are available, while well over 1,000 showed up to stand in line.

After the event, which will be held at the BankUnited Center, Obama will head to the Biltmore for a fundraising event.
